I was very excited for the arrival of the Beastmen book.  They have always been the underdogs (undergoats?) of Chaos.  I generally like what GW has done with them with one exception… their utter lack of armor, wards, regeneration.  Ogre Kingdoms have a similar weakness.  In both cases you have an army of largely T4 troops running around buck-naked.  You might say, “Wait they have 3 wounds each!”  This is little comfort.  This is equivalent to running naked orcs or dwarves that only die in sets of three.  Dying in sets of three does not make up for their nudity.

Like Ogre Kingdoms, I don’t think Beastmen are a good list for beginners.  Your stuff just dies too easily for most people to handle playing them.  Both lists are Finesse armies disguised as Meat-Hammers.   Don’t be fooled.  Good Beastmen players will have their Giant-sized creatures lurking around behind buildings, and only popping out to attack unprotected enemies maybe once per game.  Minotaurs and centigors and razorgors will hide behind terrain and try to ambush enemies who come to them.  And ungor skirmishers and chaos hounds will dart around distracting the enemy.  Ambush is truly the key to success in the darkened forests of the Old World.
